Last day of the year

Last Day of the Year & New Year

Wishes for a Happy New Year

Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year before we say goodbye to the year just gone!
Welcome to the new year and may it be a goodie!

It’s always a funny mix of feelings as the year changes.
Nostalgia for the years gone by, and lots of memories and some regrets.

My main regret is not having seen you for some time…

But there is also optimism for potential new beginnings and curiosity for what the year might hold.
There is always something to look forward to, I think.
Sometimes we have to think hard to conjure things up, especially when it’s cold and dark,
but it’s rewarding to start dreaming again. All sorts of ideas begin to form.

In December 2016 I wrote – We will have a quiet toast – no parties planned. Jack has started to make some supper – I can smell nice things including Pineapple!
I think he has some pork to cook with it.
Pineapples are in plentiful supply at the moment, and very cheap:)
Yum yum,

Next morning: Staying at home… the highlight was the London Firework display on Telly – pretty spectacular.

We went for a long-overdue walk on Dartmoor yesterday as ‘they’ promised a bright day – though it has turned cold suddenly. It was mild and sunny and there were several walkers about. We took the means to have a sandwich and tea and enjoyed the countryside.

A big Thermos in our picnic basket. We have several to choose from – It was soon a lighter load!

What are you dreaming of This New Year?

Every year we hope to achieve our goals but many big goals use smaller goals reach the big one.
Big Goals for a garden may be new projects or simply ‘To have a beautiful garden’ but a garden is a living thing that changes all the time. You never reach a finite end. The joy is in the constant change and the surprises a garden can give us. Many dreams for the garden remain the same in principle, with changes in the detail, such ‘which area needs a makeover’ and ‘which new plants to grow’.

Updates for 2017, 2018 and 2019 - and seeing 2020 in

Over the past three years, circumstances meant that much of the garden was neglected at times. Periods of Illness and the absence of a helper made keeping up very difficult and sometimes impossible. Plans for 2020 were put on hold as anticipated treatments and absences unfolded.
Who would have guessed in January that we would be caught out by the whole world. I like to see the changes in all our lives as an opportunity to re-instate dropped dreams and become even more inventive, and productive.

Here are some of my dreams, mostly pie in the sky, but dreaming can make things happen.

In the Garden:

The flower garden and plants I’d like to try.
Do I want to build a green house…
Not sure about that, maybe a cold frame.
Bringing an old bed to life – The asparagus bed is in a terrible state.
And I’m always thinking about veg to plant!

Planting broad beans

Creative Projects:

Painting a series of local buildings
Trying a new art material.
Writing a new Song

Travel:

I usually think about people I’d like to visit – someone I have not seen for a while.
The are always far away and often in other countries.

Perhaps you are dreaming about going to see a city you have never seen or an an exotic holiday. Your dreams can inspire others and can even involve collabration and help from others, so tell us about them below.
What are your dreams for the New year?
